TEHRAN The millennium congress of the well-known Persian poet Nasser Khosrow will be held in Iran, Tajikistan and some European countries. The congress is to be held upon a proposal offered by the Association of Tajiks and the world's Persian language speakers.

The decision was made in a recent meeting of the Supreme Council of Association of Tajiks in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Iran's envoy to the association Ali-Asghar Sherdoost told IRNA on Thursday.

The Iranian envoy said the Tajik President Imomali Rakhmanov was also present at the meeting, where the participants stressed the need for commemoration of well-known cultural dignitaries. They also called for launching of research in the works and thoughts of dignitaries in the East so as to provide young generation in regional states with a model, he added.

Sherdoost said the meeting had stressed Iran's all-out contribution to organization of the millennium congress.

He said Iran had voiced its readiness at the meeting to form scientific and executive committees at the congress. He added that Iran's proposal was welcomed by participants to the meeting.
